Another Monday another week. A quick look at the newspapers yesterday showed an interesting article about Razzett tal-Hbieberija. It seems that the MUT has forbidden for teaher’s assistants or facilitators to accompany children with special needs to the Razzett as it feels that these people are not competant enough to look after these children in case of any eventuality. Nathan Farrugia, CEO of Razzett, was justly cross with MUT for dragging their feet in resolving what the MUT are calling ‘legal issues’.And in the meantime the children are deprived from going there. Now this is a real shame as these children were given excellent servie. All the material provided for these children is free of charge. The transport from their respective schools and back, is free of charge. Razzett is the only NGO of this kind that provides such a service free of charge for all disabled children and adults. So why all this bureaucracy? Why are the MUT dragging their feet to solve this issue? They are reminding of Telemalta in the 80s when it took years and years to get hold of a telephone line and get connected.
Another article which caught my eye, this time on today’s Times, was the issue of Lourdes Home in Gozo. I will refrain from sounding off my own personal rants about this issue, but is it just my perception or are the nuns behaving like spoilt brats who have just been given a rapping on their knuckles? Is this the kind of repentance the catholic religion preaches?
The mind continues to boggle.
